A torsion couple, also known as a torque couple, is a pair of equal and opposite forces separated by a finite distance, producing a rotational force around an axis. It is a special case of moments and does not produce any translation, only rotation. To explain this to someone who does not like math, you can use an example of two hands turning a steering wheel. The two hands grip the wheel, with each hand applying a force of equal magnitude but opposite direction. This causes the wheel to rotate. If both hands applied a force in the same direction, the wheel would not rotate and the sum of the moments created by each force would be zero.
